This policy explains what happens to data when you visit WhatsMyDevice.net. In short: the device and browser details the tool displays are generated and shown entirely inside your own browser and are never sent to or stored on our servers. This page explains that in more detail, along with the few third-party services the site relies on.

Information we do not collect

We do not operate a backend that receives, logs, or stores the device information shown by the tool on the homepage — your browser, operating system, screen size, timezone, and similar details. That information is read by JavaScript running on your device and rendered directly on the page you're looking at. We have no record of it.

Information processed in your browser

A few pieces of information are requested or stored locally as part of making the site work:

Public IP address lookup. To show your public IP address, your browser makes a direct request to ipify.org, a third-party IP lookup service. That request and your IP address are handled by ipify under its own privacy practices; we do not see or store the result. You can hide your IP address from the on-page display, copy, download, and screenshot output at any time using the "Hide IP" toggle.
Dark mode preference. If you switch on dark mode, that preference is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. This stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics (Google's gtag.js) to understand aggregate traffic, such as how many people visit and which pages are popular. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect information such as your approximate location, device type, and browsing behavior on this site. Advertising

We intend to display advertising on this site through Google AdSense.
